Guns Aren't A Guarantee of Respect

Guns can be taken away from you, even when you have the drop on an unarmed person.

THIS is why you don't engage in 'show and tell'.

  1. That is exactly why you don't "show and tell". And it illustrates why you don't ever engage anyone at arm's length in a violent encounter ... regardless of any "advantage" that you think you might have. And notice how the event was over in about three seconds.

This guy dropped the robber with a single punch. An attacker did the same thing to a San Francisco Giants baseball fan in the parking lot of Dodger Stadium on March 31, 2011. Unfortunately, the victim of that attack nearly died and suffered extensive, permanent brain damage.

This illustrates how any attack is extremely dangerous. This clip shows how an unarmed man takes out a female police officer:

Always, always maintain as much distance as possible between yourself and an aggressor if an attack begins or looks imminent.

That is correct. Someguy stated in another post how he engaged two men who chased his wife to their home and then tried to break down the door. He opened the door to point a .45 caliber pistol at them at point blank range. He gave up the advantages of distance, cover, concealment, and a physical barrier to engage two criminals with unknown weapons at arm's length.

Dog gone you also advocated that he give up all those advantages and additionally give up his firearm to engage the two men at arm's length with pepper spray.

Always, always, always keep distance if possible. That is the number one action that everyone should take, regardless of whether you have pepper spray, a taser, a handgun, or a shotgun ... whether you are pro gun control or pro gun rights.
