How to Deal With a Toddler's Temper Tantrum

I believe the toddler in question is well over 3 years old.

  1. If I may be allowed an observation and a small criticism, toddlers are sadly not the only ones to exhibit temper tantrums.

The greater concern is when adults do so, particularly those who also carry a dangerous firearm. It goes to the issue of their maturity and emotional response.

  2. If Anonymous you are attempting to imply that the blogger is having a temper tantrum by posting this, I would demur.

Rather I think it is an excellent use of humor to defuse tension and provide perspective.

Rather we should each of us take what wisdom we are capable of deriving from it, and apply it to ourselves. I find Laci eminently capable of doing that; some of the more ideologically challenged, fact and reality averse others, not so much.

  3. I am quite comfortable defending Laci's sense of humor.

  4. Who is defending the person having a temper tantrum?

The person in question is not going to be able to post comments unitl he grows up and backs up his assertions with verifiable FACTS.

The person having the tantrum is not one of the bloggers.

The person having the tantrum is getting a "time out".

Until he can realise that his childish behaviour is what is getting him the time out.

  5. I thought it was amusing that Laci selected a video that portrayed a woman with hair and coloring similar to my own dealing with the child, since I was the one who took the lead in acting on the current kefuffle.

A recent comment that I was trying to moderate was lost due to a technical glitch. If the commenter would still like to make his observation (guessing here at gender) please resubmit it.

  6. Pepper spray works pretty good.

Especially if the toddler in question is illegally camped out in a public park and they refuse to leave peacefully.

  7. I'm glad to see that old Aztec Red still sides with massa.

You going to tell us that you're part of the 1% as well next.

    Stick to lipstick alley.

  8. I agree Laci.

Apparently RedAz approved those tactics on civil rights protesters as well, when it was part of putting down blacks who dared to get uppity like those 99% are doing.

Or maybe he just likes to feed hungry people, and ascribes to the notion among conservatives that pepper spray and mustard gas are really just food.

  9. Funny,Dog Gone, how similar we can be in our thinking.

I was just going to post a question to Aztec Red if he agreed that the civil rights marchers were throwing a temper tantrum and that the tactic used against them were correct.

Somehow, I think Aztec Red was outed as being a white person on Lipstick Alley.

He should has some very weird opinions if he is truly black.

    But,then again,so does Clarence Thomas.

Seriously, Aztec Red, was it acceptable when those tactics were used against the civil rights marchers?

You do agree with civil rights for blacks don't you, Aztec Red?

  10. "Somehow, I think Aztec Red was outed as being a white person on Lipstick Alley."

Funny. When I look in the mirror, i'm darker than the "black" person who was elected president.

As for civil rights protesters, you're comparing apples to oranges. Civil right protesters had legitimate grievances. The occupiers are just angry because they paid too much for a useless degree and are now surprised that they can't find job.

  11. Ah, RedAz,the protesters are far more diverse than just students, and the issues are far larger than student loans or tuition. But then we have a lot of conservatives who for some insane reason, are anti-education and especially anti-science That is a shame.

But then you appeared to believe that limes are regulated in the UK too, so I wouldn't expect you to fact check your assumptions about this either.

The issues are equally valid between the two groups being abused by law enforcement.

  12. But RedAz, thanks for the laugh with the lime story.

I had another one of the early morning conversations with Laci today when I alerted him to the lime story. It was a nice start to my day to hear him laughing that much.

  13. Do you include the "I'm going to take my toys and go home" response to be a kind of temper tantrum? That's what Dog Gone and Laci the Dog did on this blog. It seems to me that a person ought to be mature before criticizing the maturity of others.

  14. No Greg, we didn't take our toys and go home.

You made a threat, and you whined, and you refused to back up untenable positions you'd taken, and you tried to divide the bloggers here against each other. So we sent you and your toys home, at your own request.

Our toys stayed right here. We haven't missed a step.

Gee, and speaking of temper tantrums, last time I checked, MY comment on your blog, right under weerd beerd's comment to you, wasn't posted.

    Double standard much?

Laci and I held and continue to hold you to the same criteria for producing sources that we apply to ourselves/each other, and that we request of other people.

You don't have cases when you say you can produce them. You don't have any basis for your claim that theft equals robbery because the threat of violence is implied. You don't have any valid credible source for guns carried in belts rather than holsters for your assertions about your photo. You don't have any cases - despite your insistence that you did - for your claims about the courts.

In fact Greg, you can't back up anything. And for calling you on it you call us cowards.

Yet Laci and I have both traveled widely, and go many places in this country also. We don't have any need to strap on an inanimate object weapon or to use lethal force to be safe from random crime or targeted crime for that matter.

You're the fearful one, you're the coward. You're the one who is out of touch with the reality of crime rates. You are the one who has a poor grasp of when it is legal to shoot someone in self defense, YOU are the one who is inconsistent with your own self defense experts.

  15. Dog Gone,

I called you a coward for hiding behind a pseudonym, mocking me for a picture that doesn't mean what you said it means, and for deleting my comments when you got pissy. I've tried to be reasonable, and the response that I get is either a haughty dismissal without analysis or language that I would be ashamed to use in polite company.

Regarding your post on my blog, it's there. I don't moderate comments; all are welcome, with the exception of obvious spam. It may take Wordpress a little while to process the comment, and sometimes I have to authorize a comment that gets tangled in the system, but I do not censor comments. Come back often.

  16. "Ah, RedAz,the protesters are far more diverse than just students,"

You're right. There are also drug addicts, pedophiles, socialists, communists, anarchists, neo-nazis (for a short period of time), anti-semites, green freaks, illegal immigrants, animal rights nuts, and a handful of politicians among the occupiers.

They really are a grab-bag of nuts.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I don;t think you want to make those comparisons after I demonstrated to you that the neo nazi you claimed for the Occupy protesters had a far longer history with the tea party, and was asked to leave the occupy group - but never the tea party

Ditto the rest of your list.

The occupy movement has a lot of support from ordinary mainstream citizens who are sick of being ripped off by laws, particularly in the tax code, which favor the 1% and which penalize the 99% so as to unfairly redistribute the wealth of most of us to that 1%. Ditto corporations.

It is the same body of the majority of people who object to the eviction of people by big banks, who employ robo signing, and who on what appears to be an increasing number of homes, DIDN'T EVEN OWN THE PROPERTY. That is what the protests are about, not just unfair levels of tuition, not just unemployment. They are also protesting that no banksters have been prosecuted.

There are a lot of wrongs, many of them terrible wrongs, that are being legitimately protested. This is peaceful legal protest.

But you clearly demonstrate the right wing propensity to only want rights for people who agree with you, and who inaccurately would demonize those who do not as well as would deny them their constitutional rights.

That makes any claim you have to love the constitution or to support it a sham.

You want an authoritarian dictatorial government by conservatives.

You're not going to get it. Conservatives have never been more hated, and the tea party is in the lead for being despised over mainstream conservatives.

And that increasingly is including Republicans who are against their own parties extremist policies.

I give you the most recent developments in Ohio; one law being repealed, another had the necessary signatures submitted this past week to get rid of their oppressive voter suppression legislation.

And don't even get me started on the disgrace that Walker is facing; HIS recall is going far better than anyone had anticipated in even their optimistic moments.

Most people disagree with you, you are increasingly in the fringie minority.

Too bad for you that you are out of step with the world.

Spoken like a complete asshole who is 100% preoccupied with his inanimate objects.

  20. Mikeb302000,

We can get along. You just need to agree with us.

Geez, Greg Camp, that sounds suspiciously like the comment of someone who has no capacity for dealing with the real world. Put me down for a big ol', "Fuck you.", m,kay? Thx.
