Chicago Woman Shoots Husband by Accident - Lies to Cops

A south suburban woman who claimed she accidentally shot her husband in the face as they were “playing” with a new gun in their kitchen faces felony charges for allegedly originally lying about the incident, according to police.

Desiree Cook called police at 7:42 p.m. Wednesday and said her husband had been shot in the head by someone in the backyard of their home in Calumet City, according to police. Cook told police that her common law husband, Demetrius M. Marshall, staggered back inside after being shot and then collapsed in the kitchen, police said.
Taking advantage of the McDonald decision, this young couple bought a gun for their protection. Then, being completely unfit and incapable of safely exercising that responsibility, the unthinkable happened. Still, all might not have been lost, many women get over the untimely loss of a husband.  But, silly Desiree decided to lie to the cops.

That's the one sure way to end up in jail after shooting someone by accident.

  1. She didn't take advantage of the McDonald decision. She has an outstanding warrant from a Chicago suburb. There's no way that she bought the gun legally in Chicago or Illinois.

    1. Now who's making shit up, Greg? The outstanding warrant could have been for parking tickets.

    2. Fine, call it highly unlikely. But are a newspaper and the police likely to make a big deal out of someone who's wanted for parking tickets? Most likely, she was a prohibited person to begin with.

    3. In Texas if you have tickets or warrants you're not allowed to buy a gun, so compared a state with pretty loose gun laws compared to one with strict. So if she did have any then most likely no she did not buy the gun legally.
