Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) Announces She Has Lung Cancer

TPM

Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) announced in a statement Monday that she has a treatable form of lung cancer:

“My recent annual health physical revealed that I, like so many millions of Americans, have a treatable form of cancer.

“Several diagnostic tests have led to a diagnosis of lung cancer.  A treatment plan will begin soon and I look forward to its successful completion.

“My doctor at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where I’ll receive my treatment, has told me that I begin my treatment in good physical health and that he looks forward to my return to work after I recover.  My family and I will appreciate privacy while I undergo my treatment.

  1. Well, well, well, first Lautenberg, and now this. Control freaks should take better care of themselves. She meddles in the lives of others when she has her own personal weakness that she ought to have attended to.

You'll have to excuse me for not wishing her well.

    1. "...her own personal weakness that she ought to have attended to."

      That's pretty crazy, Greg.

    2. Crazy? She's a nurse. She has no excuse. She can't claim ignorance, unless she means willful stupidity, and we already know she possesses an abundance of that. But she's an addict. I'm telling her to correct her own faults before she seeks to tell others what to do.

    3. Yes, crazy and vindictive. When a person is daignosed with cancer, you don't fault them for not having discovered it earlier. In fact, TREATABLE lung cancer is one that is detected early.

What is wrong with you? Are you that hateful?

    4. I won't presume to speak for Greg, but I'm assuming he is referring to the fact that she is known as "a frequent smoker." You know--the thing regulated by the BATFE which is directly linked to vastly more deaths than guns.

No--not alcohol--the other thing regulated by the BATFE linked to vastly more deaths than guns.

      Are you that hateful?

Again not presuming to speak for Greg, who more than capably represents himself, I'll say that I most certainly am that "hateful." Of course I hate someone who has made her life mission the violation of my fundamental human rights.

    5. She's a smoker and a nurse, so she knew the risks going in. Ordinarily, I would understand that she, like all of us, has her own share of human weakness, but since there are not many politicians who work as hard as she does to violate my rights while at the same time having not a clue as to what she's talking about, I count this as a case of a contemptable enemy having to withdraw from the field, if only for a short time.

  2. Given this sad news, I'd like to make a peace offering to Rep. McCarthy.

Anyone know what brand of cigarettes has the highest tar and nicotine, and if there's an unfiltered version?

A few cartons of those would make the perfect gift for her, don't you think?

  4. Oh, this is rich--now the idiotic, feculent, scrofulous harridan wants to sue people over the cancer that she fully earned all on her own, by being a heavy smoker for 40 years.

Is that not the funniest damned thing you've ever seen?

"I've poisoned my own body for four decades, and now it's coming back to bite me on my hideous ass, so somebody owes me money!"
