16 Ways Europeans Are Just Better At Life than Americans

Huffington Post

10. MEASUREMENTS
Europeans:
Europe uses the metric system. If you can multiply by 10, you now have the next highest unit. Boom. Done.

Americans:
There are 3 teaspoons in a tablespoon, 16 tablespoons in a cup, 2 cups in a pint, 2 pints in a quart and 4 quarts to a gallon. There are 12 inches in a foot, 3 feet in a yard and 1,760 yards in a mile (or 5,280 feet, as is more commonly known). There are 144 square inches in a square foot and 43,560 square feet in an acre. There are 16 ounces in a pound and 2,000 pounds in a ton.
This list excludes such fun units as picas, furlongs, fathoms, nautical miles, survey townships, bushels and hogsheads. Yup. A hogshead is a unit of measurement and not a Harry Potter character. Look it up.

Here's New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg speaking Spanish:

I must hang my head in defeat in the knowledge that we are using Mayor Bloomberg as the US's example of a sexy accent.

  3. As long as everyone is on the same page then it doesn't matter what units you use. Of course if you are working on a several billion dollar expedition to Mars, you may want to all agree on which units you are using or you may just crash your rocket into the planet...

The other frustrating item is tools. I had a Chevy Cavalier that used both metric and English sized nuts and bolts so I had to switch between two different socket sets to work on the car.

  4. Yeah, yeah, yeah, stinky foot cheese and a legacy of aristocracy doesn't make for a better continent. And if you can't figure out our system of measurement, that's just too bad.

  5. So you want to compare the 47 independent countries of Europe to a lone, singular country. That's okay, it is a pretty fair fight.

I noticed that in most areas where one of the European countries may have an advantage, it is due to the US government interference in the citizens affairs and frickin ridiculous over-regulation and corporatism.

Besides, we're definitely #1 in porn. So, take that!
